Step 1

Read your season

Before you set a single priority, name the season you are in. The season decides what is realistic. Wearing summer clothes in winter never works, and neither does the wrong strategy for the wrong season.

Think about the energy you have actually been operating with the last few weeks. Not what you wish it was. What it actually was.

Top Speed runs twelve to sixteen weeks at most. Go longer and you burn out mentally and emotionally, even if your body holds up.

You are past the sixteen week Top Speed cap. Another sprint is not the realistic move right now. Your real season is Cruise or Recharge, and this carries into Step 4 as a check on any aggressive mountain.

In 2020 Marc shifted from Cruise, a digital marketing day job with a few okay side hustles, into Top Speed, running the Trading Club with 3am sessions, because a real opportunity arrived. In late 2023 he chose Cruise on purpose while prepping for his wedding, and did not chong on work. One event can shift your season, and naming it honestly is the whole point.

Step 2

Review the quarter you just had

Every 90 days you stop and look back honestly before you look forward. This is the Review that comes before Recharge and Relaunch. Run it across the same buckets you are about to score, so the review feeds the audit.

Whatever you name here becomes a candidate in Step 4, even if the area around it scored well.

If you wait until the car burns out, it is too late. Maintain it on purpose. Your companion will mirror back what it heard here before you move on, so this does not feel like a worksheet.
Step 3

Audit your life and business

Now you rate where you actually are, so the low scores tell you where to look. Rate each area from 1 to 5. If an area is not a priority this season, mark it N/A and it drops out of the totals.

The common bias is to work on what you are already strong at. Improve the weakest first.

The point of the audit is not the number, it is the pattern. Marc once uploaded his business docs to ChatGPT to find his bottleneck. The answer was leads. Not because he did not know how, but because he never prioritised it.

Step 4

Pick your one big mountain plus top 3

What is the one big mountain you are climbing this quarter? If you try to do ten things, you will do none. Your audit already handed you the shortlist below, so you never invent priorities from scratch. Run each through the five questions and the winner is your mountain.

Step 5

Build the rhythm stack

A mountain you do not break down is just a wish. You cascade the quarterly focus down into months, weeks, and days. If it is not on your calendar, it is not a priority.

Write 3 things that actually move the business forward

The test: if you only did these three things and took the rest of the week off, would the business grow? If yes, they are needle movers.

The small daily non-negotiables that protect your state

This is where the battle is won, even on holiday. Add your own version of each if you want.

Two more habits round out the day. Eat the frog, do the hardest thing first. And protect your energy, do not let the world dictate your mood before 10am.
Step 6

Commit, and set your next Power Quarter

A plan you do not commit to is where most people break the chain. Say your mountain and your top 3 out loud and in writing, then put it on the calendar. The Power Quarter is a rhythm you repeat, not a one-time thing.

  1. Add a recurring calendar block titled "The Power Quarter" every 90 days, starting on your Next Power Quarter date.
  2. Add your weekly check-in, your Hour of Power, as a recurring block on your chosen day.
